Q. What is analog technology?
A. Analog technology uses a miniature microphone, amplifiers and resistors to make a similar or parallel sound reproduction. The modified sound is converted into electrical energy and then is converted into sound waves to be delivered to the user. Analog is the most basic technology that makes sound waves larger so they can be heard well, but it can also make ambient sounds louder.

Q. What is digital technology?
A. Digital technology refers to a microchip inside the hearing aid that converts the initial analog signal into very small units made up of digits (1 and 0) which can communicate quickly and accurately through computer language. Once it is converted into computer language the signal can be modified in numerous ways to adjust sound to best meet the user’s needs.

Q. How do I decide which hearing aid is right for me?
A. Most hearing healthcare professionals recommend that you choose the most advanced hearing aid that fits your budget. Generally, the more active you are the more benefit you will gain from more advanced technology.
